On Sunday, September 14, Guardian and the New York Mets recognized Javier Jimenez, NYBC Account Manager, as an “Everyday Champion” during a special ceremony at Citi Field. This award celebrates individuals who go above and beyond to enhance the lives of their teammates and communities.
Since joining New York Blood Center in September 2014, Javier has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication in his role. He is the ultimate team player—always ready to step in wherever needed, whether it’s covering for a colleague, giving media interviews in English and Spanish, assisting our collections team at blood drives, or helping drivers with equipment setup. Every member of the Blood Operations team knows they can rely on Javier.
Javier’s commitment to helping others extends beyond the workplace. A passionate blood and platelet donor, he is always among the first to respond to critical needs. To date, he has donated over 130 times, contributing more than 16 gallons of blood — a testament to his dedication and selflessness. Javier truly embodies the spirit of an everyday champion.
During the on-field ceremony, Javier had the opportunity to meet Mets pitcher Sean Manaea, who serves as the official ambassador for the Everyday Champions program.
