On April 13, NYBCe partnered with Assemblymember Dana Levenberg and LiveOnNY to host a blood drive at the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps (OVAC) in honor of Donate Life Month

During the drive, Brian Carey shared his story about the loss of his son in August 2025. While grieving, he found solace in knowing that his son was able to donate eight organs to five individuals, and that his heart continues to beat on. Brian emphasized the critical need for blood donors, as many people awaiting organ transplants rely on such donations while they wait for a match, during surgery, and in post-surgery care.

To conclude the event, OVAC raised the LiveOnNY flag, which will be displayed throughout the rest of Donate Life Month (see photos below). The blood drive successfully collected 33 units of red blood cells and 1 unit of plasma.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event possible, and a special thanks to Brian Carey, LiveOnNY, and OVAC for their support!
