NYBCe’s Laboratory of Blood Group Genomics offers DNA testing for red cells, platelet, and neutrophil antigens. The laboratory offers the most extensive testing available in the country for molecular analysis of blood group systems. The results are interpreted by staff experienced and knowledgeable in both genetics and immunohematology. The most common indications include typing recently transfused patients, patients with sickle cell disease and thalassemia, RhD or HPA typing OB patients and the fetus (from amniocytes) and, typing for antigens for which there are no reagents.
