NYBC hosted the Amazin’ Mets Foundation to celebrate its generous grant at NYBC’s newly opened Queens Donor Center

On Thursday, April 30, New York Blood Center recognized the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the New York Mets, led by Alex Cohen, for its generous $150,000 grant towards NYBC’s newly opened Queens Donor Center.

In 2024, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation awarded NYBC with the $150,000 grant, which was used to enhance donor equipment needed to collect red blood cells, platelets, and plasma. This special acknowledgment was hosted at NYBC’s new Queens Donor Center, where members of NYBC leadership and the Amazin’ Mets Foundation unveiled an honorary plaque to represent the Foundation’s generous contribution.

The Queens donor center, which opened in late 2025, marks NYBC’s sixth donor center in New York City. By establishing a permanent, welcoming, community-centered location, NYBC aims to make blood donation more convenient for Queens residents and strengthen the local blood supply for hospitals across the region.

“NYBC is grateful to the Amazin’ Mets Foundation for its support of New York Blood Center,” said Jeannie Mascolino, Vice President of Blood Operations for New York Blood Center. “The Amazin’ Mets Foundation’s generous grant to the Queens Donor Center has already made a lifesaving impact across the community, allowing us to strengthen the region’s blood supply levels and serve our diverse community of patients and hospitals.”
