First 500 donors who register online and donate between February 1-7 will receive two tickets to a future taping of The Daily Show
NEW YORK – New York Blood Center (NYBC) is partnering with Comedy Central’s The Daily Show to encourage New Yorkers to donate blood during an ongoing blood emergency impacting hospitals across the tri-state area.
NYBC initially declared a blood emergency in January after harsh winter weather, widespread seasonal illness, and holiday-related challenges significantly reduced blood donations and disrupted collections across the tri-state area. While recovery efforts were underway, a historic winter storm disrupted collections once again, resulting in blood drive cancellations, donor center disruptions, and the loss of thousands of blood and platelet donations. In response, NYBC has extended its blood emergency appeal and is calling on the community to help rebuild the critically low supply.
To help address this urgent need, the first 500 blood donors who register online and come to donate at one of NYBC’s New York City-based donor centers between Sunday, February 1 and Saturday, February 7 will receive two tickets to a future taping of The Daily Show.
“The Daily Show is an iconic New York institution, and we’re excited to offer this unique incentive to thank our donors while helping address a critical community need,” said Jeannie Mascolino, Vice President, Divisional Blood Operations at New York Blood Center. “This partnership is a reminder that even during challenging winter months, blood donations remain essential, and every donor plays a role in helping save lives.”
Registration is required. Qualifying donors will receive an email with instructions to redeem their tickets within two to three weeks following their donation. Tickets are limited and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. To learn more and register, donors can visit nybc.org/thedailyshow.
In light of recent updates to FDA guidance, more people than ever may now be eligible to give.Blood donors can give every 56 days, and platelet donors can give twice per month. To view current eligibility guidelines call 1-800-933-2566 or visit nybc.org. To help prevent future shortages, NYBC encourages donors to become All Seasons Lifesavers by donating once each season. NYBC also offers additional donor loyalty programs that recognize consistent giving throughout the year. Learn more here.
