Platelets are a special blood component that help cancer patients, trauma victims, and others whose lives depend on transfusions every day. Unlike whole blood, platelets have a shelf life of just five days, which means we need a constant flow of donations to meet patient needs. Right now, we’re in danger of not meeting that need.
