New York Blood Center (NYBC) recently returned to Suffolk County Community College’s Eastern Campus, where a strong partnership—and a bit of musical flair—helped drive another successful year of blood collection.

During a recent campus visit, NYBC’s Red Drop mascot made a special appearance, even joining in a Michael Jackson sing-along led by student Roxana. The moment captured the spirit of engagement and enthusiasm that continues to define this collaboration.
After being paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, the blood drive at Suffolk County Community College Eastern Campus was successfully reinstated in February 2024. Since then, NYBC has worked closely with campus partners to rebuild and strengthen the program.
A key contributor to this effort has been student Roxana, who played an active role in promoting the drive and encouraging her peers to donate. Her outreach across campus helped inspire students to roll up their sleeves and support the lifesaving mission.
NYBC also extends its appreciation to the college’s Student Activities Department and Student Peer Mentoring Program for their ongoing partnership and support.
Thanks to this collective effort, students at the Eastern Campus helped collect 112 pints of blood during the current school year—an increase from 107 pints the previous year—demonstrating continued growth and commitment to helping patients in need.
