Clay Rich

Senior Vice President and Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Blood and Laboratory Operations 

Clay Rich is the Senior Vice President and Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Blood and Laboratory Operations (BLO) for New York Blood Center Enterprises (NYBCe). In this role, he partners with the COO to oversee enterprise-wide operations, including supply chain management, production planning, forecasting, and blood inventory strategy. 

Clay brings a unique blend of military, financial, and operational expertise to his leadership. He served more than seven years in the United States Marine Corps, where he deployed to Afghanistan in 2012–2013 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and reenlisted for a second tour of service. During his military career, Clay was promoted to Staff Sergeant and recognized for his exceptional performance, earning the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in 2010 and being named “Outstanding Enlisted Person of the Year” in 2014 by The American Legion Department of Minnesota. 

Following his military service, Clay transitioned to supply chain and financial management roles in the nonprofit blood sector. He joined Innovative Blood Resources, a division of NYBCe, in 2016 as a Financial Analyst and advanced through finance and operations leadership positions. Since then, he has held roles of increasing responsibility within NYBCe, including Director of Production Planning, Senior Executive Director of Supply Chain Management, and Vice President of Supply Chain. In 2025, he was named Senior Vice President and Deputy COO of BLO. 

Clay played a pivotal role as a strategic partner in shaping NYBCe’s reporting and analytics platform, championing its adoption to improve inventory management and embed evidence-based decision-making across operations. His broader leadership was recognized with the President’s Award during the COVID-19 pandemic.
