New York Blood Center Enterprises offers a comprehensive menu of products to support the full spectrum of transfusion medicine, regenerative medicine, and cellular therapy-related development projects, from basic research to full-scale clinical trials.
We have maintained continuous accreditation by all applicable bodies, including FACT and AABB, and have processed, cryopreserved, and stored more than 18,000 hematopoietic progenitor cell products, mononuclear cells for donor lymphocyte infusions, and autologous parathyroid tissue. We also provide world-class research tissue banking services.
All of our Cord blood has been collected from placentas and umbilical cords after birth by specially trained nurses and technicians of the National Cord Blood Program (NCBP) and are provided without donor identifiers or donor-specific information.
We have a large inventory of frozen Cord Blood Units (CBUs) available for research. These CBUs have been volume-reduced to remove most of the red blood cells and plasma and have been concentrated to 25 mL final volume, including the cryoprotectant. They are frozen with controlled-rate method and are stored in Liquid Nitrogen in BioArchive freezers. The frozen CBUs have had at least some testing performed including infectious disease markers, HLA, bacteriology, flow cytometry, and CBC.
Frozen CBUs with specific characteristics, e.g. total cell or CD34+ count, or HLA typing, can be provided upon request.
In February 2023, we celebrated the 30th Anniversary of our program. NCBP is the world’s first and largest public cord blood bank; the first in the world to obtain a Biologics License from the FDA to manufacture HEMACORD®; and the first ever where clinical transplants of unrelated donor cord blood were performed using NCBP cord blood units.
For three decades, NCBP has ensured that lifesaving cord blood units are available for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, severe aplastic anemia, and other lethal diseases of the blood or immune system.
We provide complex enrichment and/or depletion procedures using monoclonal antibodies, magnetic particles, and flow cytometric cell sorting. Fresh or cryopreserved purified cells are offered in aliquots of:
- 0.1 million cells per vial
- 0.5 million cells per vial
- 1 million cells per vial
- 5 million cells per vial
CD34+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells are highly purified and viable cells isolated from cord blood or peripheral blood.
Research Grade
Our Plasate™ Research-Grade human platelet lysate has been prepared from pooled expired apheresis platelets stored in plasma obtained from screened normal human blood donors and does not contain any additional additives. It can be used to culture cells, providing an animal-free media. Plasate has undergone appropriate release testing, including bacterial culture, endotoxin, and mesenchymal stem cell doubling times.
- 100 mL Research Grade
- 500 mL Research Grade
cGMP Grade
Our Human platelet lysate product is manufactured inside a clean room under cGMP conditions with extensive cGMP level documentation. Similar to Research-grade Plasate, this product is prepared by pooling platelet lysate obtained from multiple screened donors to reduce lot-to-lot variability. Each manufacturing step is monitored and controlled to ensure highest standards of quality. cGMP grade products are tested for Mycoplasma in addition to sterility testing for aerobic/anaerobic bacteria and endotoxin. Each lot is tested for growth of Mesenchymal stem cells to validate the quality of the final product. A certificate of analysis is provided for each lot with quality assurance team approval.
