Convalescent plasma recipient Scott Cohen recently shared a heartwarming moment with his plasma donor Abbie Park when they met for the first time outside our Center East Donor Center.
Scott was on a ventilator and nearly died from COVID-19. Unfortunately, his father passed away from the virus. Scott and his family learned more about convalescent plasma therapy and its potential to help critically ill COVID-19 patients. With support from Survivor Corp, a social media campaign, and a petition with 20,000 signatures, the hospital agreed to allow the plasma therapy on an emergency basis. Scott is now in recovery, and credits convalescent plasma with helping save his life.
